Julidochromis sp. 'transcriptus kalemie' Kalemie

Geographic distribution: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika. The exact geographic origin of this form is uncertain. Although the name “Kalemie” is commonly used in the aquarium hobby, the actual locality is considered doubtful.
Special notes: This form is included on the map as Julidochromis sp. ‘Transcriptus Kalemie’. Fish sold in the hobby under the name Julidochromis transcriptus ‘Kalemie’ are certainly not true J. transcriptus. The use of the name “Kalemie” is also questionable, as no reliable locality data or scientific references could be found in the literature. Available information is limited to scattered and often contradictory reports from aquarium forums. Due to the lack of verified taxonomic and geographic data, this form is here treated as an undescribed Julidochromis species.
